Paramedical camouflage course for Virginia artists, live 1:1 on Zoom
One-on-one scar and stretch mark camouflage training on Zoom for licensed artists in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk and across Virginia. Live with Evelyn, same time zone.

Camouflage training for Virginia artists
Virginia combines one of the wealthiest metro areas in the country, Northern Virginia, with a large military population in Hampton Roads and a growing beauty scene in Richmond. That mix creates steady demand for scar camouflage: surgical scars, injury scars and stretch marks after pregnancy.
The SKINEAV 1:1 Zoom course is advanced training for artists who already hold the right Virginia license. It focuses on assessment, custom colour matching and safe technique on healed scar tissue, live with Evelyn.
Tuition: $2,997 USD for the live online 1:1 Zoom course taught from Canada, or $3,697 USD with the training kit shipped to the US. Payment plans are available, e.g. $500 deposit + 3 x $999. See the US course page for what is included.
How tattooer licensing works in Virginia
Virginia is stricter than many states, so read this part carefully. The Board for Barbers and Cosmetology, part of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), licenses individuals. Under 18VAC41-50-20, anyone who wants to do tattooing, permanent cosmetic tattooing or master permanent cosmetic tattooing must hold a license and pass a board-approved exam.
To sit the exam, the regulation requires training in a Virginia-licensed school or approved apprenticeship, or an out-of-state program that is substantially equivalent plus board-approved health education, or documented years of experience in another state. DPOR's summary of licensing requirements sets out the details for each license type.
An online 1:1 camouflage course is not a route to a Virginia license. It is advanced training for artists who are already licensed, or who are working toward a license through an approved program. The SKINEAV Certificate of Completion is proof of training only. Check with DPOR which license covers the camouflage work you plan to do before you enrol.

What Virginia artists ask before enrolling
"I don't have a Virginia license yet. Should I take this course first?" Usually not. Start with the license path DPOR requires, then add camouflage as an advanced skill. Evelyn will tell you this honestly on the free call.
"I'm a licensed permanent cosmetic tattooer. Is camouflage within my license?" Ask DPOR directly. The course gives you technique and colour skills, but only the Board can tell you what your license covers.
Scheduling from Virginia
Virginia is on Eastern Time, the same as Evelyn in Toronto, so there is no time difference.
Choosing cases as a newly trained Virginia artist
Virginia's licensing system already asks artists to work carefully, and the same mindset helps with camouflage. In your first months, choose small, flat, fully healed scars on the body in clients who understand that camouflage blends rather than erases. Avoid raised, red or recently healed scars, keloid-prone skin and any area a doctor is still monitoring. Keep a written record of each consultation, the colours you mixed and the depth you worked at, and photograph every case in the same light. Share those records with Evelyn during your six months of mentorship. Over time they become the evidence of careful work that local surgeons, dermatologists and clients look for.
What a training week can look like from Virginia
Licensed Virginia artists often book one theory session and one guided practice session a week. Theory covers undertone, scar assessment and when to refer a client to a doctor; practice is on practice skin with Evelyn giving live feedback. You also build a consultation form and record-keeping routine suited to a DPOR-licensed practice.
Your first camouflage clients in Virginia
Most Virginia graduates first offer camouflage to existing PMU or tattoo clients, then grow through referrals. Northern Virginia's med spas and the many military families in Hampton Roads both bring clients with surgical and injury scars. The course covers how to document cases with consent and talk about results honestly.
Working with military and veteran clients in Virginia
Virginia has one of the largest military communities in the country, from Norfolk and Virginia Beach to Quantico and Fort Gregg-Adams. Clients with injury or surgical scars may also be dealing with sensitive memories. The course covers a calm, private consultation, clear consent, and knowing when a case should go back to a doctor first. Read injury and accident scar camouflage.
How the course fits a Virginia beauty business
For licensed Virginia artists, camouflage is a way to add a high-demand, specialist service to an existing PMU or tattoo practice.
The course covers the full basics of camouflage, learning on practice skin, theory, machine and ink, pigment chemistry basics, and the business side: finding your audience, building a pricing strategy you set yourself, and spacing sessions properly. You can add the training kit, you receive a SKINEAV Certificate of Completion, and you get six months of mentorship with Evelyn afterwards. It does not promise clients or income. It gives you a skill, a method and someone to ask when a real case comes in.
See the US course overview for the full curriculum and format.
Licensing note: the SKINEAV Certificate of Completion shows you finished Evelyn's training. It is not a state license, permit or registration. Before you tattoo anyone in the US, check and follow the rules of your state, county and city.
