Camouflage training for Arkansas artists

Arkansas has one of the fastest-growing regions in the South. Northwest Arkansas, from Fayetteville through Springdale and Rogers to Bentonville, has added people, money and new medical clinics at a remarkable pace, and its beauty market has grown with it. Little Rock remains the state's medical centre, with its university hospital and children's hospital drawing patients from every county. Brow studios are now easy to find. Camouflage specialists are not.

The SKINEAV 1:1 Zoom course teaches licensed Arkansas artists to assess scars and stretch marks honestly, match pigment to every skin tone, and work safely on healed scar tissue, in private live sessions with Evelyn.

Tuition: $2,997 USD for the live online 1:1 Zoom course taught from Canada, or $3,697 USD with the training kit shipped to the US. Payment plans are available, e.g. $500 deposit + 3 x $999. See the US course page for what is included.

How body art licensing works in Arkansas

Arkansas has one of the more demanding systems in the country. The Arkansas Department of Health licenses tattoo, permanent cosmetic, body piercing and branding artists, and its body art FAQs confirm that both artists and shops must be licensed. The rules, published as 17 CAR § 54-304, require an establishment license and a certificate of sanitation for every studio, and say an establishment may only let licensed artists, or guest artists with a temporary license, perform body art. Applicants must also complete bloodborne pathogen training before applying.

Training is formal. Under 17 CAR § 54-309, licensed body art institutions describe programs of at least 400 hours of supervised work, including hands-on training, over six to twenty-four months, with further supervised hours to add another field of body art. Arkansas also requires written and practical examinations.

Ask the department which license covers camouflage before you offer it, and whether your current permanent cosmetic or tattoo license applies. The SKINEAV Certificate of Completion is proof of training. It is not an Arkansas license, and it does not count toward state training hours.

What Arkansas artists ask before enrolling

"I'm in an Arkansas body art program now. Should I wait to learn camouflage?" You can learn theory and practise on practice skin, but you may only work on clients within your current status and the department's rules. Talk to your instructor, and Evelyn will help you plan.

"Does the SKINEAV course count toward Arkansas training hours?" No. State training hours are completed at a licensed body art institution under a registered instructor. The SKINEAV course is separate, advanced specialist training.

"Can I offer camouflage at a client's home?" Arkansas licenses establishments and mobile establishments separately, so ask the department before working anywhere other than your licensed location.

Scheduling from Arkansas

Arkansas is on Central Time, one hour behind Toronto. A 9 a.m. session in Little Rock is 10 a.m. for Evelyn. Session times are confirmed in writing in both zones.

What a training week can look like from Arkansas

A typical week includes one theory session on undertone, scar assessment and contraindications and one live practice session on practice skin with Evelyn correcting your depth and saturation on camera. Homework includes mixing swatches for your most common client skin tones and drafting consent and aftercare documents for your establishment.

Your first camouflage clients in Arkansas

Most Arkansas graduates begin with existing clients who mention a scar, then build a small portfolio with written consent. Plastic surgeons, dermatologists and physical therapists in Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas can become referral sources over time. The course covers honest consultations and record keeping, and never promises results.

How the course fits a Arkansas beauty business

Arkansas artists who already hold a department body art license and work in a licensed establishment can usually add camouflage as a new specialist service, after confirming which license applies.

The course covers the full basics of camouflage, learning on practice skin, theory, machine and ink, pigment chemistry basics, and the business side: finding your audience, building a pricing strategy you set yourself, and spacing sessions properly. You can add the training kit, you receive a SKINEAV Certificate of Completion, and you get six months of mentorship with Evelyn afterwards. It does not promise clients or income. It gives you a skill, a method and someone to ask when a real case comes in.

See the US course overview for the full curriculum and format.

Licensing note: the SKINEAV Certificate of Completion shows you finished Evelyn's training. It is not a state license, permit or registration. Before you tattoo anyone in the US, check and follow the rules of your state, county and city.
