Camouflage training for Indiana artists

Indiana's beauty market is anchored by Indianapolis and its fast-growing northern suburbs, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Zionsville, where med spas and PMU studios have multiplied. Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend and Bloomington each have their own tattoo communities. Clients looking for scar or stretch mark camouflage often find nobody nearby and drive to Chicago or Louisville.

The SKINEAV 1:1 Zoom course helps Indiana artists offer the service locally. In private live sessions, Evelyn teaches assessment, custom colour matching, safe technique on healed scar tissue and a consultation that sets honest expectations.

Tuition: $2,997 USD for the live online 1:1 Zoom course taught from Canada, or $3,697 USD with the training kit shipped to the US. Payment plans are available, e.g. $500 deposit + 3 x $999. See the US course page for what is included.

How tattoo rules work in Indiana

Indiana sets statewide sanitation rules and leaves permits and inspections to local health departments. The Indiana Department of Health's tattoo and body piercing program explains that the state rule, 410 IAC 1-5, covers the sanitary operation of tattoo and body piercing facilities, including infection control, bloodborne pathogen training, waste handling and the work area, and that county health departments enforce it.

Many counties go further with their own ordinances, including facility permits, inspections and registration of individual artists. Boone County, for example, publishes its own requirements for tattoo and body modification businesses. Because rules differ so much from county to county, the place to start is always the health department where your studio is located.

Camouflage puts pigment into the skin, so treat it as tattooing and confirm local requirements before you take clients. The SKINEAV Certificate of Completion is proof of training. It is not an Indiana or county permit.

What Indiana artists ask before enrolling

"My county doesn't license individual artists. Do I still need anything?" The state rule still applies to the facility, including bloodborne pathogen training. Your county may also require permits or inspections. Ask the health department in writing.

"I'm in Evansville. Which time zone are sessions in?" Evansville and a few other southwest and northwest counties use Central Time, while most of Indiana uses Eastern Time. Every booking is confirmed in writing in both your time and Evelyn's.

"Can I offer camouflage in a med spa?" Possibly, but check with your county health department how tattoo facility rules apply to that setting before you start.

Scheduling from Indiana

Most of Indiana is on Eastern Time, the same as Evelyn in Toronto. Counties around Evansville and Gary use Central Time, one hour behind. Session times are confirmed in writing in both zones.

What a training week can look like from Indiana

A typical week includes one theory session on undertone, scar assessment and when to refer a client to a doctor, plus one live practice session on practice skin with Evelyn correcting your technique on camera. Between sessions you build a screening form, a consent process and an aftercare sheet that meet your county's expectations.

Your first camouflage clients in Indiana

Most Indiana graduates begin with existing PMU or tattoo clients who mention a scar, then build a small, consent-based portfolio. Surgeons and dermatologists around Indianapolis's large hospital systems can become referral partners once you have documented, careful work to show them. The course covers honest consultations without promising results.

How the course fits a Indiana beauty business

Most Indiana students add camouflage inside a facility that already meets 410 IAC 1-5 and local requirements, so the main change is a new specialist service.

The course covers the full basics of camouflage, learning on practice skin, theory, machine and ink, pigment chemistry basics, and the business side: finding your audience, building a pricing strategy you set yourself, and spacing sessions properly. You can add the training kit, you receive a SKINEAV Certificate of Completion, and you get six months of mentorship with Evelyn afterwards. It does not promise clients or income. It gives you a skill, a method and someone to ask when a real case comes in.

See the US course overview for the full curriculum and format.

Licensing note: the SKINEAV Certificate of Completion shows you finished Evelyn's training. It is not a state license, permit or registration. Before you tattoo anyone in the US, check and follow the rules of your state, county and city.
