Camouflage training for Georgia artists

Atlanta has become one of the strongest beauty cities in the South. Brow studios, lash bars, med spas and cosmetic surgery practices fill Buckhead, Midtown, Alpharetta and the suburbs, and the city's beauty culture reaches well beyond its borders through social media. Georgia also has one of the most diverse client bases in the country, with a large share of clients who have brown and deep skin tones.

That last point matters more than anything else in camouflage. Scars and stretch marks often heal lighter than the surrounding skin, and on deeper skin the contrast can be striking. Matching pigment to those tones is a specialist skill, and it is where the SKINEAV 1:1 Zoom course spends the most time. The training is live and private with Evelyn, not a video library.

Tuition: $2,997 USD for the live online 1:1 Zoom course taught from Canada, or $3,697 USD with the training kit shipped to the US. Payment plans are available, e.g. $500 deposit + 3 x $999. See the US course page for what is included.

How body art certification works in Georgia

Georgia changed its rules recently. After Senate Bill 214, the Georgia Department of Public Health adopted statewide Rules and Regulations for Body Art, Chapter 511-3-8. Implementation began on October 6, 2023, and existing artists and studios had until October 6, 2024 to meet the new requirements.

At a high level, the DPH page explains that body artists get a Department-issued Body Artist Certification by passing an exam scheduled through their local County Environmental Health Office, and that studios need a Body Art Studio permit. The specialties recognised in the rules are tattooing, piercing and microblading. DPH also publishes a list of certified body artists and separate applications for guest and temporary artists.

Camouflage is a form of tattooing, so check with your county Environmental Health office which certification applies to the work you plan to do. The SKINEAV Certificate of Completion is proof of training. It is not a Georgia certification or permit and does not replace either one.

Where Georgia camouflage clients are

  • Metro Atlanta: Buckhead, Midtown, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Marietta and Decatur, with a dense cluster of plastic surgeons and med spas
  • Savannah: a growing city with a lively beauty scene and few camouflage specialists
  • Augusta and Columbus: medical and military communities, including clients with surgical and injury scars
  • Athens and Macon: smaller markets where one skilled artist can stand out

Common requests include C-section and tummy tuck scars, breast surgery scars and stretch marks after pregnancy. Read camouflage on deeper skin tones and stretch marks on dark skin to see why careful assessment comes first.

What Georgia artists ask before enrolling

"Most of my clients have deep skin. Will the training cover that?" Yes. Colour matching on brown and deep skin is a core part of the course, including why some scars should not be treated and when to refer a client to a doctor first.

"I only do brows now. Is camouflage too big a jump?" Brow artists already understand pigment, depth and healing. Camouflage asks for different colour theory and a slower, more conservative approach on scar tissue. Evelyn will tell you honestly on the free call whether you are ready.

Scheduling from Georgia

Georgia is on Eastern Time, the same as Evelyn in Toronto, so there is no time difference at all. A 10 a.m. session is 10 a.m. for both of you, and daylight saving changes on the same dates. Many Atlanta students book morning sessions before their studio opens.

How the course fits a Georgia beauty business

Because Georgia ties body art to a permitted studio and a certified artist, most students add camouflage inside the studio where they already work. It can sit naturally beside brows, lips or areola work as a higher-skill service.

The course covers the full basics of camouflage, learning on practice skin, theory, machine and ink, pigment chemistry basics, and the business side: finding your audience, building a pricing strategy you set yourself, and spacing sessions properly. You can add the training kit, you receive a SKINEAV Certificate of Completion, and you get six months of mentorship with Evelyn afterwards. It does not promise clients or income. It gives you a skill, a method and someone to ask when a real case comes in.

See the US course overview for the full curriculum and format.

Licensing note: the SKINEAV Certificate of Completion shows you finished Evelyn's training. It is not a state license, permit or registration. Before you tattoo anyone in the US, check and follow the rules of your state, county and city.
