Camouflage training for Utah artists

Utah has one of the most active beauty industries in the country for its size. Salt Lake City, Lehi and Provo are home to beauty schools, product brands and a huge number of lash, brow and PMU artists, many of whom built their businesses on social media. Competition in the popular services is intense. Specialist services, by contrast, are still thin on the ground.

Utah also has one of the highest birth rates in the US, which means many clients living with C-section scars and stretch marks after pregnancy. Camouflage can help some of those clients feel more comfortable, but only when the artist assesses carefully, matches pigment well and explains honestly what to expect. The SKINEAV 1:1 Zoom course teaches exactly that, live and one-on-one with Evelyn.

Tuition: $2,997 USD for the live online 1:1 Zoom course taught from Canada, or $3,697 USD with the training kit shipped to the US. Payment plans are available, e.g. $500 deposit + 3 x $999. See the US course page for what is included.

How body art permits work in Utah

Utah regulates body art facilities through state rules and local health departments. Under the Utah Department of Health and Human Services rule R392-701, Body Art Facility Sanitation, a body art facility may not operate unless the operator has first obtained a permit from the local health department with jurisdiction, and a body artist may not perform body art in an unpermitted facility.

At a high level, the operator must show the local health officer that the facility meets the sanitation, sterilization, consent, disclosure and record-keeping requirements, submit plans before building or remodelling, and post the permit where clients can see it. Permits are not transferable. Local departments add their own processes: the Salt Lake County Health Department, for example, permits body art establishments including those that offer permanent makeup, and carries out unscheduled inspections.

Check with your local health department how camouflage fits within your facility's permit before you take clients. The SKINEAV Certificate of Completion is proof of training, not a Utah permit or license.

What Utah artists ask before enrolling

"Utah is full of PMU artists. Will camouflage really help me stand out?" Specialist skills are harder to copy than trends. Very few artists can match pigment on scar tissue confidently and explain the limits honestly. That is a different position from competing on brow prices. It still takes practice and patience, and there are no guarantees.

"Many of my clients are young moms. Is there anything I should know?" Yes. Scars and stretch marks need to be fully healed and stable before camouflage, and clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding are usually asked to wait. The course covers screening questions and when to refer a client to a doctor first.

"St. George has intense sun. Does that change the approach?" Sun changes how skin around a treated area looks. The course covers timing sessions, sun protection during healing and afterwards, and why a conservative match is safer in high-sun areas.

Scheduling from Utah

Utah is on Mountain Time, two hours behind Evelyn in Toronto, all year, because both change clocks on the same dates. A 9 a.m. Mountain session is 11 a.m. in Toronto. Session times are always confirmed in writing in Mountain Time.

What a training week can look like from Utah

Many Utah students run busy booking calendars, so sessions are often placed on slower weekdays. A typical week includes one theory session on colour, undertone and scar assessment and one guided practice session on practice skin with Evelyn watching live. You also build a screening form and an aftercare sheet suited to the clients you see most.

Your first camouflage clients in Utah

Most Utah graduates start with their existing clients, many of whom have already asked about stretch marks or C-section scars. Because the PMU community is so connected online, a careful, consent-based portfolio and honest captions matter more than dramatic photos. The course covers how to document work and talk about camouflage without promising results.

How the course fits a Utah beauty business

Because Utah permits the facility through the local health department, most students add camouflage inside a studio or med spa that already holds a body art permit.

The course covers the full basics of camouflage, learning on practice skin, theory, machine and ink, pigment chemistry basics, and the business side: finding your audience, building a pricing strategy you set yourself, and spacing sessions properly. You can add the training kit, you receive a SKINEAV Certificate of Completion, and you get six months of mentorship with Evelyn afterwards. It does not promise clients or income. It gives you a skill, a method and someone to ask when a real case comes in.

See the US course overview for the full curriculum and format.

Licensing note: the SKINEAV Certificate of Completion shows you finished Evelyn's training. It is not a state license, permit or registration. Before you tattoo anyone in the US, check and follow the rules of your state, county and city.
