Chest scar camouflage: what suits and what does not
The chest is one of the areas most prone to raised scars. That makes careful assessment especially important here.

Scars on the upper chest and breastbone area come from surgery, injuries, acne and mole removals. They show in open necklines and swimwear.
Why chest scars are tricky
The chest is a common area for raised, hypertrophic and keloid scarring. A scar that looks flat in one light may be slightly raised in another. Before anything else, I check the scar's height, texture and history.

Mole removal and small surgical scars
Small scars from mole removal or minor procedures on the chest are common. When they have healed flat and pale, they can often be blended. If you are unsure why a mole was removed, or the area has changed since, check with your doctor before any cosmetic work.
Healing on the chest
The upper chest can be sensitive and is often exposed to sun. Loose, soft tops help in the first days, and the area should stay out of the sun. Straps and seams that rub across the scar are worth avoiding.
What to send for a first opinion
A daylight photo straight on, one from the side to show any height, and a note on how long ago the scar formed and whether you or your family have had keloids. That is usually enough for an honest first answer.
Frequently asked questions
Can chest scars be camouflaged?
Flat, pale, mature chest scars often can. Raised or keloid scars, which are common on the chest, usually are not suitable.
Why does keloid history matter on the chest?
The chest is prone to raised scarring, and tattooing involves small skin injuries.
