Camouflage tattoo healing: a day-by-day timeline

The colour you see on the day is not the final colour. Knowing what is normal at each stage saves a lot of worry.

Healing timeline at SKINEAV, Vaughan

Every skin heals at its own pace, and your aftercare sheet from the session always comes first. This timeline shows what most clients notice.

Day of the session

The area is usually pink or red and may feel warm, like a mild sunburn. The camouflage can look brighter or more obvious than it will once healed. That is normal.

“We don’t fix texture, we fix color.”

Evelyn Alvares Vega, founder of SKINEAV

Days 1 to 3

Redness and slight swelling settle. Keep the area clean and follow your aftercare. Avoid soaking, swimming, saunas and intense workouts. See activity after a camouflage tattoo.

Days 4 to 10

The skin may feel tight, dry or itchy and can flake lightly. Do not pick or scratch. Flaking can make the colour look patchy for a few days.

How it works at SKINEAV

  1. Photo or callSend a photo or book a free phone consult. Honest first answer.
  2. Assessment & colour testIn clinic, Evelyn checks your skin and tests a custom formula.
  3. TreatmentPigment placed precisely, only where it is needed, one-on-one.
  4. Heal & reviewThe colour settles over weeks; follow-ups are planned if needed.

Weeks 2 to 6

The surface has healed, but the colour is still settling into the skin. Many clients worry here that the pigment looks too light or too visible. Wait. This is why results are judged after healing.

After about 6 weeks

This is when Evelyn reviews the healed result with you and decides whether a follow-up session would help. Many clients need more than one session, spaced several weeks apart.

Long term

  • Sun protection is the biggest factor in how long the result looks even. See sun protection after camouflage.
  • Your natural skin tone can shift with seasons, so occasional touch-ups may be needed.

Call your doctor for signs of infection, such as increasing pain, heat, swelling or discharge after the first few days.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my camouflage look too light right after the session?

The colour changes as the skin heals. Results are judged after several weeks, once the colour has settled.

When can I see the final result?

Usually after about 6 weeks, when the skin has healed and the colour has settled.

When can I swim after a camouflage tattoo?

Avoid soaking and swimming while the skin heals. Follow the timing on your aftercare sheet.
