Why a camouflage colour match can change over time

Your skin is alive and changes with seasons and years. Pigment changes more slowly. That gap is worth understanding before you start.

Colour match over time at SKINEAV, Vaughan

Clients sometimes notice, a while after treatment, that the area looks a touch lighter or a touch warmer than before. Usually nothing went wrong. The skin and the pigment simply changed at different speeds.

What changes

  • Season: many people are noticeably darker in summer than in winter.
  • Sun exposure over years: sun-exposed skin can deepen and become more uneven.
  • Pigment softening: skin-toned pigment slowly lightens.
  • Undertone shifts: pigments can lean slightly warmer or cooler as they age in the skin.

“We don’t fix texture, we fix color.”

Evelyn Alvares Vega, founder of SKINEAV

How I plan for it

At the consultation I ask how much your skin changes between seasons and look at areas that see sun and areas that do not. I aim for a match that sits well in your usual skin tone, not your darkest summer tan. For clients whose skin changes a lot, I explain this clearly before starting, because it affects how visible the area can be at different times of year.

How touch-ups help

A touch-up can refresh softened colour and adjust the formula if your skin has changed. It is planned with you, not sold to you.

How it works at SKINEAV

  1. Photo or callSend a photo or book a free phone consult. Honest first answer.
  2. Assessment & colour testIn clinic, Evelyn checks your skin and tests a custom formula.
  3. TreatmentPigment placed precisely, only where it is needed, one-on-one.
  4. Heal & reviewThe colour settles over weeks; follow-ups are planned if needed.

Vitiligo and seasonal contrast

Vitiligo patches do not tan, so the contrast with surrounding skin grows in summer. That makes seasonal change especially important in vitiligo camouflage.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my camouflage look lighter in summer?

Your skin tans but the pigment does not, so the treated area can look lighter against summer skin.

Can the colour be adjusted later?

Yes. A touch-up can refresh the colour and adjust the formula if your skin has changed.
