Belly button scars: what camouflage can do
Small scars in and around the navel are common after abdominal surgery. Some suit camouflage well; others need a different conversation.

A tummy tuck usually leaves a scar around the repositioned navel. Laparoscopic surgery and hernia repair can leave small scars inside or just around it. They are small, but they sit right in the centre of the abdomen, so they are noticed.
Scars around the navel
A scar circling the belly button often heals as a thin pale ring. When it is flat and fully mature, camouflage can bring the ring closer to the surrounding skin tone. Because the skin folds into the navel, I work carefully on the outer edge, where the scar is visible, rather than deep inside the fold.

Small laparoscopic scars
Keyhole scars are short, but they can heal lighter, darker or slightly dented. Light, flat ones are usually the best candidates. Dented ones show partly through shadow, which pigment does not change.

What to expect
These areas are small, so sessions are often shorter than for a long incision. The skin around the navel can be sensitive. Keep the area clean and dry during healing, and avoid tight waistbands rubbing on it for the first days.
How it works at SKINEAV
- Photo or callSend a photo or book a free phone consult. Honest first answer.
- Assessment & colour testIn clinic, Evelyn checks your skin and tests a custom formula.
- TreatmentPigment placed precisely, only where it is needed, one-on-one.
- Heal & reviewThe colour settles over weeks; follow-ups are planned if needed.
Combining with other areas
Many clients have a tummy tuck scar, a navel scar and sometimes stretch marks on the remaining skin. These can be planned together, so colour stays consistent across the abdomen. See tummy tuck scar camouflage and stretch mark camouflage.
Frequently asked questions
Can you camouflage a scar inside the belly button?
I work on the visible scar around the navel. Deep inside the fold is usually not visible and not treated.
Are laparoscopic scars good candidates?
Light, flat keyhole scars often are. Dented or darker ones are assessed individually.
