Chest acne scars: how to cover them and what really helps
Breakouts on the chest are common, and the scars they leave show in V-necks, swimwear, gym tops and open shirts. Chest skin also has a reputation for scarring more than the face. Here is an honest guide to what you can do.

Why chest scars behave differently
The skin over the breastbone and upper chest is prone to raised scars, including hypertrophic scars and keloids, especially in people with a personal or family tendency. Chest acne can also leave dark marks (which often fade with time) and pale, flat or pitted scars (which usually don’t). Identifying which you have is step one.
Raised or growing scars: see a dermatologist
If your chest scars are firm, raised, itchy or getting bigger, please see a dermatologist. These can be keloids, and medical treatments such as injections or silicone are the right first step. Needle work, including camouflage, can provoke keloid-prone skin, so it is not appropriate on active keloids.
Real results and real moments

Covering flat marks and scars
For dark marks, a peach or orange corrector under a body concealer works well; set it to prevent transfer onto clothing. For red marks, use a green corrector. If you still get breakouts, treat those first, ideally with a dermatologist’s help, so new marks stop forming.
When colour matching may help
Pale, flat, mature acne scars with no active breakouts and no keloid tendency may suit scar camouflage, which blends their colour toward the surrounding skin. It doesn’t smooth pitted texture or treat acne. Results vary. Evelyn will ask about any history of raised scarring and may suggest a small test area or simply say no if the risk isn’t worth it.

What to expect
If chest scars are suitable, Evelyn usually starts with a small test area and waits to see how your skin heals, because chest skin can react more than other areas. If that heals well, the rest is treated over one or more sessions. Avoid tight gym tops and sweating heavily while healing. Pitted texture will remain; the goal is softer colour contrast.
