Vitiligo makeup tutorial: blend patches without a mask look

A good vitiligo makeup routine is less about a miracle product and more about matching undertone, feathering edges, and protecting depigmented skin from sun. This tutorial stays brand-agnostic on purpose.

Stable vitiligo patch before camouflage

Match the skin next to the patch

Depigmented patches have no melanin; surrounding skin has undertone (cool, warm, olive). Match the living skin, not a generic “beige.” Swatch on the jaw or hand in daylight. High-pigment cream camouflage usually beats sheer foundation.

Step-by-step cover

  • Moisturise; optional primer for longevity
  • Stipple cream onto the patch; feather 1–2 cm past the edge
  • Build a second thin layer only where needed
  • Powder, then setting spray for sweat or humidity

Hands and face need more touch-ups. Related: how to cover vitiligo with makeup and how to hide vitiligo.

Self-tanner as a base layer

DHA self-tanner can reduce contrast for days and cut how much cream you need. It does not treat vitiligo. Always SPF on patches — they burn easily. Seasonal notes: vitiligo, summer and seasons.

When people ask about longer wear

On stable patches, paramedical colour matching may reduce daily makeup. Confirm stability with a dermatologist first (Koebner risk). Overview: vitiligo camouflage.
