Stretch mark camouflage vs creams and oils: different jobs

Many clients come to me after years of creams. Here is how I explain what topical products and camouflage each do.

Camouflage vs creams at SKINEAV, Vaughan

If you have a shelf of half-used stretch mark creams, you are far from alone. I do not sell creams, and I am not a dermatologist, so I will not tell you which product works. I can explain where camouflage fits.

What topical products are for

Creams and oils are applied to the surface of the skin. People use them to moisturise, for comfort and in the hope of improving new stretch marks. Ask a pharmacist or dermatologist which products have evidence behind them for your situation.

“We don’t fix texture, we fix color.”

Evelyn Alvares Vega, founder of SKINEAV

What camouflage is for

Camouflage does not try to change the skin structure. It places skin-tone pigment into mature, pale stretch marks so the colour difference shrinks. It is a cosmetic, colour-based approach.

Using both

Moisturising healthy skin is fine before camouflage. During healing, follow only the aftercare I give you. Do not apply other products to a fresh camouflage area unless I have said it is fine.
