What a useful before photo includes
Same lighting as the after, dry hair, consistent angle, and an honest hair length. Wet hair, filters and extreme contrast make density look better than life. Ask for unedited daylight shots when you can.
What after photos should disclose
How many sessions, how healed the scalp is, and whether the client still has native hair. Fresh work looks sharper than fully settled pigment. Scar camouflage on the scalp is a different goal than a full buzz-cut illusion — see transplant scar cover.
