Is my vitiligo stable enough for camouflage?
Stability is the first question in every vitiligo consultation. Here is what it means and how to check it yourself.

Vitiligo camouflage can make a real difference to how people feel. It also needs more caution than most treatments, because vitiligo can change. The key word is stable.
What "stable" means
In simple terms, the patches you want to treat have not grown, changed shape or appeared nearby for a long time. Your dermatologist is the best person to confirm whether your vitiligo is considered stable.
“We don’t fix texture, we fix color.”
Evelyn Alvares Vega, founder of SKINEAV
Why it matters
- If a patch keeps growing, the edge of camouflage will no longer line up with the edge of the patch.
- Skin injury can be a trigger for new patches in some people with vitiligo. Tattooing creates tiny controlled injuries. That is why I only work on stable vitiligo and recommend talking to your dermatologist first.
