Curling iron burn scars: how to fade and cover them
Almost everyone who styles their hair has touched a hot iron to their forehead, neck or hand at some point. Most of these small burns heal well, but some leave a mark that lingers. Here is what usually happens and what you can do about it.

Mark or scar? It matters
Most small styling-tool burns heal with a dark or pink mark, not a true scar. That darkening is common, especially on medium and deeper skin tones, and it often fades gradually over months. A burn that went deeper, blistered badly or got infected can leave a pale, shiny or slightly indented scar that does not fade the same way.
Helping it fade
Keep the healing area moisturised and do not pick at it. Once it has closed over, daily SPF is the single most useful step, because sun darkens healing skin. If the mark is not improving after several months, or the burn was large, see a doctor or dermatologist, who can suggest medical options.
Real results and real moments

Covering it with makeup
For a brown mark, a peach or orange colour corrector under your usual concealer neutralises it. For a pink mark, a green corrector. Apply thinly with a small brush, blend the edges, and set with powder. On the neck, choose a long-wear formula so it does not end up on your collar.
When colour matching is an option
If you are left with a mature, flat, pale scar that stays lighter than your skin, scar camouflage can blend it toward your natural tone. Small burn scars are often quick to assess. Camouflage does not lighten dark marks and does not remove scars. For larger burns, see SKINEAV’s burn and injury scar page. Results vary.

What a session is like
Small pale burn scars are usually treated in one short appointment, with a follow-up if needed. Evelyn tests a colour against the skin right beside the scar, which matters on the face and neck where tone varies. Afterwards, avoid makeup on the area while it heals and use SPF once healed. The goal is that the spot no longer draws attention.

Frequently asked questions
Will my curling iron burn mark go away?
Many dark marks fade over months with sun protection. Pale or indented scars are more likely to stay.
Can camouflage cover a dark burn mark?
Usually no. Pigment cannot make skin lighter. Camouflage suits pale, mature scars.
How long before I can consider camouflage?
Wait until the mark has stopped changing and the skin is fully healed. For many people that is many months.
How do I find out if my scar is suitable?
Call 437-475-2757 for a free phone consult with Evelyn, or send clear daylight photos through the free assessment page. You will get an honest answer, including “not yet” or “this is not a good fit” when that is the truth.
